In book one, Jake assumed it could be that of his deceased mother, Maddie Jackson Mason, which is pretty plausible. But who was she really? After many discoveries in book one, Jake isn't certain that the ghost that he followed onto Mason's Lake was his mother. As he is lured again into questions and discoveries of his family roots, he discovers who the ghost really is...and what she wants from him.

Who really killed his father?

Was the accident that killed his father just that, an accident? Did his brakes really fail on that mountain? Or was it the man who was in love with his mother before she met and married Chris Mason? Did he have a dark side that prompted him to kill Jake's father? In book two, more evidence arises as Jake meets the infamous Terence Mitchell that may, or may not, prove his involvement...or his innocence.

His Heritage

How will he begin to discover his heritage?

Now that Jake knows who his family is, he begins a new search after a discovery in the attic of the villa. Prompted in a letter by his deceased mother and the ghost that lures him there, Jake goes to the attic and discovers three trunks. What he finds there prompts questions about the Jackson side of his family and sends him to the reservation on a search for the ghost's true identity. There he meets a family member he never knew existed, and the answers he finds prompts even more questions.
